Development Associate

  • Collaborates with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Support, manage and continue to build the donor base to grow annual revenue 
  • Plan and manage fundraising events associated in executing fundraising events throughout the fiscal year.
  • Manage DCSL donor walls for participants and veterans
  • Actively manage grant prospecting and grant proposals
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Development Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Implements the fund development plans in accordance with ethical fundraising principles
  • Monitors and evaluates all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved
  • Monitors trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
  • Develops and manages timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund-raising processes are carried out in a timely manner
  • Develops policies and procedures for the staff and Board of Directors which reflect ethical fundraising practices.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and staff, prepares and submits grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization.
  • Oversees the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization. Identifies and develops corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities
  • Develops and maintains a donor database
  • Oversees the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
  • Coordinates in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to engage volunteers for special fund development projects using established volunteer management practices
  • Monitors expenses and analyzes budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary
  • Fosters an understanding of philanthropy within the organization
  • Develops a donor recognition program
  • Plans and directs advertising, public relations, and promotional campaigns and strategies to promote the Council

Requirements:

Hiring Range: $45k-50k

Communication/Marketing Specialist 

  • Directs the production of printed publications. Writes materials for and directs the layout of informational materials such as newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets, directories, website, online publications, and posters
  • Initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with local media and public contacts for disseminating information to promote the Council.
  • Responsible for DCSL monthly newsletter production including copy, editing, design, and managing recipient lists.
  • Provide assistance in ensuring all outgoing communication (through direct mail and social media) is accurate, sensitive, and consistent with DCSL’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Create social media content, info graphics and email outreach on a variety of platforms to connect reaching a wide range of people, including participants, sponsors, DCSL stakeholders and staff.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for DCSL’s Annual events, facility rentals and other development projects as assigned.

Salary Range – $19-$21.5 Per hour
